Those landscapes are filled with adventure opportunities for the daring family traveler. Day 1:

Explore the colorful markets and immerse in the French influence of Hanoi. Visit ancient temples and learn the legends of the lake.

Day 2:

rickshawVisit the “Hanoi Hilton” where Prisoners of War, including Senator John McCain, were held during the Vietnam War. Take a rickshaw through the narrow streets of the old quarter where French colonial buildings mix with Asian temples.

Day 3 – 6:

seamus bikeBoard a traditional junk boat to explore the unique rock formations and caves of Halong Bay. Hike through massive caves and kayak through tiny sea tunnels, ride bikes through rice paddies to remote villages, visit a floating village, go squid fishing, learn to cook Vietnamese dishes and much more!

Overnight aboard small ship cruise. All meals and activities as listed included.

Day 7:

Head south to the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) the American base during the Vietnam War. Visit the American War Museum to learn a local perspective on the war and see remnants of the war machines. At night, stroll the markets and cafes.

Day 8:

P1340281Famous during the Vietnam War, the Cu Chi Tunnels are miles and miles of tunnels and rooms carved feet below the ground. They were used by the North Vietnamese to infiltrate enemy territory and as safe haven during air raids. Now, tourists can explore the tunnels as well as see some of the innovative traps used during the war made using materials from the land like bamboo.

Day 9:

Head south again to the famous Mekong Delta where floating markets and small villages await. Explore small canals by row boat and learn how grains are processed as if centuries have stood still in remote villages.

Day 10:

Spend your final night in Saigon.
