This travelogue follows a family of four, including two young boys, on their non-cruise Caribbean adventure. Puerto Rico gets the most attention, with visits to places such as San Juan, the El Morro fortress, the El Yunque rain forest, and the Rio Camuy caves. The family then travel by a combination of seaplanes and ferries to the islands of Vieques, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John, Tortolo, and Virgin Gorda. The emphasis is on family-oriented fun, with scenes of the boys swimming with dolphins and taking a submarine ride. The off-screen narration covers the high points of each island's architecture, natural beauty, and tourist sites, while the parents interject advice on points like finding child-friendly foods. The film takes a wonderful approach by going beyond stock visuals to show the mundane of travel, like driving, hauling luggage, and dealing with bad weather. With features like kid-oriented packing tips, lists of travel resources, and reviews of select hotels, this fun and reasonably priced DVD should find its way into most public libraries.
