Made up of three main islands, St. Thomas, St. Criox and St. John, the US Virgin Islands each have their own unique feel and flavor. St. With up to ten cruise ships a day, St. Thomas is well traveled and is set up for tourists with lots of activities and shopping galore. Due to its location further to the south, St. Croix sees less tourists and has other industries. The result: a laid back atmosphere that is not so reliant on your tourist dollar but still has its fair share of shops and restaurants to keep you satisfied...and don't miss a tour of Buck Island and its beautiful underwater interpretive pathway. St. John is all about the nature with the huge Virgin Islands National Park...think incredible white sands, beautiful turquoise waters and not too many people to spoil the views.
For a real taste of the Caribbean try island hopping between the US and British Virgin Islands. It's one of the few places in the Caribbean where you can do this easily and on a budget. Ferries ply the waters between most of the islands and Seaborne Airways has low priced seaplane routes connecting the islands here and Puerto Rico.
